What the QA section looks like now
QA is the last of the three CAT sections. In CAT 2025 it had 22 questions in 40 minutes, with plus 3 for a correct answer and minus 1 for a wrong MCQ. Type-in-the-answer questions carry no negative marking.
Arithmetic carries the most weight, so it is the smart place to start. Algebra comes next, followed by Number System, Geometry and Mensuration, then Modern Math. You do not need every topic at the same depth. Get the high-frequency ones solid first.
A rough split helps. In recent CAT papers Arithmetic and Algebra together make up well over half the section, so weak basics there cost you the most. Fixing them is the fastest way to add marks.

Use them by purpose, not at random
Free material is endless, which is the trap. The fix is to know which resource does which job.
Concepts first
If a topic is shaky, start with a concept video before any questions. Cracku and 2IIM both have free lessons that cover every chapter. Watch, take notes into your formula book, then move to questions.
Practice topic by topic
Once the concept is clear, drill that one topic. The question banks at Percentyl, 2IIM, Bodhee Prep and Cracku let you filter by chapter, so you can hammer Time and Work or Geometry until it stops scaring you.
Then take timed sectionals
In the last two months, switch to timed QA sectionals of 22 questions in 40 minutes. This is where you learn selection, leaving the two or three questions that are not worth the time.
Build a formula book and calculation speed
Resources give you questions. What turns practice into marks is a formula book you build yourself, plus fast mental math.
Keep a few pages per chapter, add every shortcut a mock teaches you and revise it each weekend. Pair it with a reference sheet of tables, squares, cubes and common fractions, so the arithmetic never slows you down.
Free or paid: what really changes
People assume paid courses are better. For QA, the gap is smaller than you think.
What you pay for is structure, a fixed schedule and someone to ask. The questions themselves are not better than the free banks here. If you can build your own plan and review your mistakes with discipline, free resources take you a long way. Spend money on a good test series, not on content you can get for nothing.
The mistake that wastes QA time
The biggest QA error is the same one DILR punishes: refusing to leave a hard question. With 22 questions in 40 minutes, two or three will not be worth your time.
Train yourself to skip. In every mock, take an easy first pass and collect the questions you can solve quickly, then return for the harder ones. A clean 14 attempts at high accuracy beats 20 rushed attempts with silly errors.
