14 Indian business schools appear in the Financial Times Masters in Management 2026 ranking, published on 7 September 2026. Only France, with 23 schools, has more programmes in the table of 100. IIM Bangalore is the highest-placed Indian school at rank 21.
The salary column is where the Indian entries stand out. Seven of the eight highest weighted salaries in the entire ranking belong to Indian schools, led by IIM Ahmedabad at $199,706. No Indian programme sits inside the global top 20 all the same. Both facts come from the same table. The gap between them is what this ranking really measures.

Indian schools lead the salary column
IIM Ahmedabad reports the highest weighted salary of any programme in the ranking at $199,706. The seven highest salary figures in the table all belong to Indian schools. The highest non-Indian figure is University of St Gallen at $150,490, which is also the school ranked first overall.

One row settles the question of whether this is a pay ranking. Rabat Business School is ranked 10th with a weighted salary of $76,905, which is lower than every one of the 14 Indian schools. Salary is one input among many, not the sort order.
Read the dollar figures with care. The FT publishes weighted salary in US dollars on its own adjusted basis, so it is not the same thing as a rupee CTC figure from a placement report. Treat it as a number for comparing schools inside this table, not as a package you can quote.
Careers service is the other column where India leads
Ten of the 25 best careers service ranks in the world belong to Indian schools. SPJIMR is 2nd, IIM Calcutta 5th and IIM Bangalore 8th. XLRI is 11th and IIM Ahmedabad 12th.
Every one of the 14 Indian schools reports 100% of graduates employed at three months. Only 12 of the other 86 schools in the ranking report the same.
Indian schools that are not in the table
Fourteen Indian schools are ranked. Every other Indian business school is absent, including ISB, FMS Delhi, IIFT, JBIMS, MICA and the IIMs outside the seven listed above.
The FT table does not record why any school is absent, so no reason is offered here. What the ranking does state is the kind of degree it covers. The FT describes the masters in management as a pre-experience programme, which is why two-year PGP and PGDM courses that admit mostly freshers sit in this table rather than in the FT MBA rankings.
What this means if you are preparing for CAT 2026
Seven of the 14 ranked Indian schools are IIMs. Their admissions run off your CAT score. XLRI runs XAT. NMIMS runs NMAT. One exam cycle puts most of this table within reach.
The useful read is not the rank order. It is that placement outcomes at these institutes hold up against schools charging far more in Europe, which is worth remembering on the days when the fee figures look frightening.
