IIM Ahmedabad’s final placement report for the 2026 batch has been audited and released. All 392 students who sought placement through the institute accepted an offer. The median total guaranteed cash component is Rs 32,50,000 and the mean is Rs 32,46,782. The highest maximum earning potential in the batch is Rs 2,31,03,000.

The audit is what makes these numbers worth reading. B2K Analytics signed off on 27 August 2026 against the Indian Placement Reporting Standards Revision 2.2. The compliance table lists no deviations from the standard. Every figure below is from that report, including the ones that make the headline packages look smaller than the versions you will see elsewhere.

What the four salary heads mean

This is where most package coverage goes wrong, so read it once and you will never be confused by an IIM number again.

Fixed yearly cash component is the annual basic salary plus guaranteed cash allowances. It is certain money, unrelated to performance.

One-time cash payment is a joining benefit paid once, usually at the time of joining. It is not repeated in year two.

Total guaranteed cash component is the fixed yearly cash plus the one-time payment. This is the closest thing to the number a student can count on in year one.

Maximum earning potential adds maximum possible variable pay, provident fund, gratuity and other perks on top. It is a ceiling, not an expectation. The report also states that where an ESOP vesting schedule was unknown, 25% of the ESOP value was assumed to vest in the first year. Long-term benefits payable after twelve months were left out entirely.

So the Rs 2,31,03,000 figure that will be quoted as the highest package is a maximum earning potential number. The highest total guaranteed cash in the batch is Rs 99,93,960. Both are true. Only one is money in hand.

The report notes three functions that grew against last year. Business development net offers rose 440%, systems and IT rose 75% and general management rose close to 19%.

International offers

Six of the 392 offers were international. Dubai took four, with one each to Hong Kong and Japan. The remaining 386 are grouped as Pan India.

That grouping is worth understanding. The auditor states that location details were missing from some offer letters, or the work location was to be decided after joining, so on the institute’s advice all domestic offers were placed under one Pan India head. There is no city-level breakdown in this report. Any site publishing one is not taking it from here.

Pre-placement offers and the internship route

The most useful number in the report for a first-year student is buried in section 6.

Of 203 pre-placement offers awarded, 194 came out of summer internships. The summer internship is the main hiring funnel at IIM Ahmedabad, not a side experience. The report does not state how the 135 accepted PPOs overlap with the 392 accepted offers, so that ratio is not calculated here.

Who was in the pool

408 students graduated in 2026. 402 were eligible for placements. 392 sought placement through the institute and all 392 accepted an offer. Zero students were left in process and zero had data unavailable.

The 10 who did not seek placement through the institute break down as 6 who looked for roles outside the campus process, 3 who went into entrepreneurship and 1 who joined a family business. Two of the entrepreneurs took the IIMAvericks Fellowship, which carries mentorship and financial support for two years and lets a student return to placements later.

Around 58% of the batch was eligible for the laterals process, which runs before final placements for students with prior work experience. Eighteen firms took part in it.

Who hired the most

Around 182 firms participated with around 267 different roles. Accenture Strategy made the most offers including pre-placement offers at 36, followed by Boston Consulting Group at 33, FinIQ Consulting at 24 and McKinsey and Company at 21.

Among investment banks Goldman Sachs was the largest recruiter with 6 offers, followed by Citibank with 4. In general management Essar Group made 8 offers and Amazon made 6. In the laterals process FinIQ made 15 offers and NTT Data made 14. More than 50 firms were new to IIM Ahmedabad this year.

What an aspirant should take from this

Three things. Consulting is still the destination for roughly 40% of the batch, so if you are targeting IIM Ahmedabad, you are largely targeting a consulting outcome. Technology now pays the highest median guaranteed cash of any large sector here. And the summer internship, which happens in the first year, decides a large share of final jobs.

None of that changes what gets you in. The gate is still a CAT score in late November. Build it with daily practice through the free CAT daily challenge on Percentyl.
