DILR prep guidance

Asked by Suhani Rathi on 2026-07-17 in CAT Prep

Hi, so im currently enrolled with IMS.
to describe my current position,
- Quant - Very Weak
- DILR - Average at best for a beginner (Takes me approx 1 hr to solve a set, otherwise can't solve)
- VARC - Average

My current strategy is
Quant: to only attend quant classes and solve all the given sums
VARC: not attending any classes, I just do the RC sets and bucket the wrong answers into categories like too extreme, scope not wide enough etc.
DILR: not attending any classes, just solving the sets and then watching the solution if in case I cant get it.

My main concern is that is it okay to not attend DILR classes, with my current situation in it. Like is there anything concrete they teach in these classes, because from where im standing i feel they just solve questions in those. And if im looking at solutions for the ones im not able to solve is that enough? Please let me know as its not like my DILR is strong or anything?

I have attended IMS classes, and I feel you should attend every DILR class. IMS covers a good variety of sets. The concept and approach is explained through the question itself. There are no concepts to be taught specifically for each set type; unlike QA, it's just about logic and structured thinking. You get better at DILR by solving a variety only.
