How to attempt RCs with speed and accuracy?

Asked by Akshat on 2026-05-25 in CAT Prep

Shweta di I wanted to ask you on how you attempted the RCs in cat exam, like do you first read the questions or first the passage or do it side by side?

One issue I am facing is that sometimes after reading the RC and coming to the questions I seem to forget some details and hence have to go back to the rc to review it, this clearly wastes more time
I saw that ppl suggest making a map or summary of all paras you read in an rc but what I find a bit perplexing is that writing down each para's summary even in 2 lines will consume more time and it will only give me a gist of the rc not enough info to answer specific questions correctly.
Also there's a higfh chance that one might end up picking a harder rc in the exam and consuming more time on it so how do you decide which rc you want to attempt ?

In the exam the rc would be displayed on the side with one question on a page so if I esentially wanna read the questions first I will have to click ahead and read all the questions and then comeback to the first slide to read the rc and attempt the first questions, idk if it's a wise thing to do

Any suggestions please??
