For CAT and IIM admissions, BCA is typically classified under the Non-Engineering category (Academic Category AC-5 for Computer Applications / Science, or AC-4 depending on the specific IIM's criteria). This qualifies you for non-engineering academic diversity points at major institutes like IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow, and Indore.
