Career Dilemma: Completing CA vs Pursuing MBA from BLACKI

Asked by Siddhi on 2026-05-30 in CAT Prep

I am a CA Final student and also preparing for CAT. I know the usual advice is to complete CA first and then pursue an MBA, but this could realistically be my last serious CAT attempt due to my career timeline and personal circumstances.

My dilemma is whether, in the long run, a BLACKI MBA with an education loan would be a better choice than focusing only on CA. Coming from a middle-class family, the loan aspect worries me the most.

Also, considering the opportunity cost of not completing CA and taking on an education loan, which MBA colleges would you consider worth joining?

For context: 92/91/85 academics, 18 months of work experience, non-engineer female.

Would love to hear your perspective.

Profile is a goldmine! :)
You are the ideal diverse candidate consulting firms, investment banks, and FMCGs hunt for.

If this is your last serious attempt, here is a reality (i blv) MBA is worth the loan over CA loop: Loan is Not a Trap: A ₹25 Lakh loan at a BLACKI IIM feels heavy now, but average packages there are ₹30-35+ LPA. Most grads clear this debt within 18–24 months. It is an investment, not an expense.

Zero-Debt Alternative- If the loan genuinely stresses you out, target FMS Delhi or JBIMS Mumbai. Their fees are under ₹2-3 Lakh, & offer same elite placements as top IIMs. :)

Finally, Only leave CA for IIM A/B/C/L/K, FMS, XLRI, JBIMS or SPJIMR. If you convert any of these, the corporate growth, immediate salary jump, and network will vastly outperform starting as a fresher CA.

Give CAT your absolute everything this year. 👍🏼
