CAT 2026 Application: Work Experience and Academic Qualification
Asked by nagendra raj on 2026-09-12 in CAT Prep
1. Work Experience
I am currently working full-time as a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under the ANRF–PAIR SAKSHAM project, a collaborative project between IIT Indore and IIIT Bhopal. My appointment commenced on 16 February 2026 and is currently ongoing.
I have my joining letter and appointment/offer letter. If required, I can also obtain salary slips from the institute’s Accounts Department, as well as an experience certificate and relieving letter.
As per my understanding of the CAT 2026 guidelines, my employment may fulfil the applicable criteria for work experience. However, I would be grateful if you could confirm whether my current contractual, full-time research fellowship can be considered eligible work experience for the CAT 2026 application.
2. Five-Year Integrated BS–MS Degree
I have completed a five-year integrated BS–MS dual degree in Biological Sciences from IISER Bhopal.
Could you please clarify whether I should:
Fill in only the Bachelor’s Degree section and select the Dual Degree option; or Enter the details of my BS–MS qualification separately in both the Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree sections? 3. Conversion of Class 10 CGPA into Marks
I obtained a CGPA of 10.0 in Class 10 under CBSE. As per the applicable conversion factor, this corresponds to 95%.
Since CBSE Class 10 examinations involve five subjects, I understand that the marks may be entered as 475 out of 500.
Could you please confirm whether this is the correct way to report my Class 10 marks in the CAT 2026 application?
4. Graduation Marks and Maximum Marks
The application form includes fields for marks obtained and maximum marks under the graduation section, which I understand are not compulsory.
I have my overall CGPA for my integrated BS–MS degree, but I do not currently have the individual subject-wise marks or the corresponding maximum marks.
In this situation, could you please confirm whether I may leave these fields blank and provide only my CGPA, wherever applicable?
