How to improve in VARC through self preparation

Asked by Sneha Biswas on 2026-03-24 in CAT Prep

Di before starting i was really scared about LRDI the most and then Quant a bit because I was good in maths but I felt VARC will be comparatively easier for me because I have never been afraid of English..but at this point of time..I'm atleast understanding Quant and LRDI but in VARC sometimes I find passages which are too difficult and I really get confused while solving the questions...no idea how to improve can you please help

English is different but comprehension is a different skill. In comprehension u discard options to solve it. R u facing challenge there?

I agree with Ravish here. There are 2 parts to an RC: comprehension & eliminating options. Are you able to understand what each paragraph is saying? Broadly. Not fully. Just an idea. If yes, then comprehension is not the issue. If not, then you need to sit with one para at a time and improve understanding it without a timer. Just try getting the main idea of the passage. If the issue is with the options, then you need to learn the elimination techniques - why an option is being eliminated. The more your reasoning matches with that of the author, the better your score.
