Does practicing and working hard help you score the percentile needed for top IIMs? Because I often hear that even after working hard, some are not able to score good percentile. While some even without studying ace the exam. This will be my 1st CAT attempt. I am ready to put in the required effort but sometimes this often demotivates me. I understand that this is an aptitude test, but still without studying and putting minimal effort even, how are some able to ace the exam.

bro they r either repeaters or iitians n even they also study. whoever is claiming to get in without prep is lying or very small number of people who prepared for other exams

The responses you got are right - everyone has to study, there may be a few outliers who didn't study but they usually have a history of taking other competitive exams similar to CAT. So, please don't think you are weak or not at par. It is required to put in this much effort to clear the exam.
