Struggling DRASTICALLY EXORBITANTLY in RCs!!

Asked by Anonymous on 2026-09-17 in CAT Prep

So, I'm struggling in VARC. Like, english used to be my strength, and reading is my hobby. But don't know why, I'm struggling drastically. I get just 1-2 questions right, and sometimes, all of them go wrong. And it takes around 15 minutes per rc for me to solve. Also, I'm unable to do paraphrasing. What should I do??

these are some of the tips that might help you.
rcs are not much about reading but comprehending. how much you can understand and comprehend.
1. eleminate the options rather than searching for the right one.
look at the options clesrly and check whether they are supported by the passage or its just you assuming it.
2. check out different question styles asked in exam. you can check juhi mam's videos from mba wallah.
3.do mapping of the passage as it is nearly impossible to remeber everything.

Try slowing down and focus more on understanding the author’s main point and flow instead of trying to paraphrase every para do 3 4 RCs daily preferably PYQs and analyse every wrong answer especially the options u got confused between your speed will improve with practice

The most important skills when it comes to solving RCs are critical reasoning and option elimination. It's not about how good you're in English or how strong your vocabulary is. You don't need to understand everything. Just understand author's tone, claims being made and examples in favor or against the claims being made.

Whenever you're solving questions- Instead of choosing the right option....eliminate the wrong ones. Ask yourself that why this option is correct and why others are wrong. Read slowly and speed will follow with practice. Stop reading articles and essays. Solve 4-5 RCs everyday and analyze the answers properly and understand what errors you're making and fix them.
