99%ile First or Profile First? GEM Fresher Dilemma

I am a GEM (9/8/7) fresher currently in a gap year and fully focused on CAT preparation. My thinking is that only a high CAT percentile will help me secure interview calls, so I’m prioritizing prep right now and planning to work on my profile after the exam (during the 2–3 months before interviews). Is this the right approach, or should I also invest time in profile building alongside CAT prep?
