Complete Career switch (from Arts to MBA)

Asked by Anonymous on 2026-04-23 in General MBA Doubts

I am confused about pursuing MBA vs PGDM and need clear guidance on which is better for jobs in India, how they are treated by companies, and which colleges are worth considering. My academic background is BA (Hons.) in Political Science and a Master’s in Political Science, and I have also tried government exams like SSC CGL, CHSL, and Stenographer but was not successful. Now I want to switch to a stable corporate career through MBA/PGDM. I want a simple, honest comparison and ranking of top colleges like IIMs, IIT MBA programs, FMS Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, IMT Ghaziabad, IMI Delhi, LBSIM, IPU colleges like USMS, JIMS, RDIAS, Maharaja Surajmal, and private universities like Amity, LPU, Chandigarh University, including their fees, placements, and expected salary. I also want clarity on entrance exams like CAT, IPU CET, CMAT, and MAT and which colleges each leads to. I specifically want to avoid BPO or low-end jobs and understand which colleges are safe for good corporate roles. Along with this, I also want to understand which MBA specializations have the highest demand, best salary, and long-term growth in India such as Finance, Marketing, HR, Operations/Supply Chain, and Business Analytics, and which specialization would be safest and most future-proof for a stable career. Based on my education and failed govt exam attempts, I need a simple, realistic roadmap on what I should do next, which exams to focus on, which colleges to target or avoid, and which specialization I should choose.
