Hi everyone,
I'm looking for guidance regarding CAT eligibility under the NEP system because I'm genuinely confused.
I'm pursuing B.Com in an autonomous college. My batch comes under the National Education Policy (NEP), under which the traditional 3-year B.Com has been changed to a 4-year bachelor's programme. I've heard that some universities allow students to exit after 3 years with a bachelor's degree, while the 4th year is optional (usually for an Honours/Research degree). However, I'm not sure whether this 3-year exit option is actually available for my university/college.
Another issue is that my college is running far behind schedule academically. I'm currently in the 4th semester, but only the 1st semester results have been declared so far. Because of these delays, I'm worried about both CAT eligibility and the admission process.
My questions are:
1. If my university allows the 3-year exit under NEP, can I register for CAT this year as a final-year student? 2. If the 3-year exit is **not** available in my university, does that mean I have to wait until the 4th year to appear for CAT? 3. Has anyone from an NEP 4-year B.Com programme faced this situation? 4. If my university/college delays the 6th semester (or 8th semester if the course remains 4 years) or delays the declaration of results, what happens if I receive an IIM admission offer? Will delayed university results create problems during admission? 5. Has anyone from an autonomous college experienced such delays? How did your CAT/IIM admission process work out?
If you've personally gone through this or know the official rules, I'd really appreciate your guidance.
Thank you!
