How did you improve your Verbal score in the shortest time?

Asked by StudyInsightHQ on 2026-07-25 in MBA Colleges

I'm preparing for MBA entrance exams and would love to hear from those who significantly improved their Verbal score.

What strategy worked best for you?
Which resources did you use?
How many weeks did it take to see noticeable improvement?

Real experiences would be really helpful. Thanks!

See the key is practice. And what I did to see remarkable improvement is that I started to read slowly and understand everything instead of reading fast and understand nothing or partially. Your primary concern should be understanding and accuracy. If you focus on speed and rush then your score will drop. So do active reading- mentally summarize every paragraph that you read and grasp the main idea. Focus on the tone of the author and whenever you solve questions- use the elimination method...don't only choose the right option but eliminate the wrong ones, you should know why a particular option is correct and why others are wrong.

As for resources- Aeon essays and pyqs are the best. You can also use RC99, bodheeprep.

Tbh, I just completed my whole Verbal Ability in one or two weeks. After that, I practiced its questions on a daily basis. As for RC, I just read uncomfortable and boring essays with rich vocabulary and content (my suggestion: 4 topics/RCs per day). It helped me a lot in gaining more marks in the VARC sectional test without too much hustle.oh,i used Arun sharma and cracku for practice and watched one or two YouTube videos on each topic. Will help you in gaining much confidence and knowledge in just a month
Hope this helps!! 🌷
