Advantage/Disadvantage of having a prior post graduation degree

Asked by Shreyan Roy on 2026-03-29 in Profile Review

Hi, I have already done a post graduation degree earlier in Construction Management but now I am planning to do MBA from IIMs. So I am planning to give CAT this year. I wanted to know that having a prior post graduation will give me an advantage or will it be a disadvantage for me. Also I would like to know do top colleges look into post graduation degrees or academics while evaluating profiles. Thanks

Hey, it makes no difference at the shortlisting stage at least. No weightage to it in the evaluation criteria. It may be an interesting talking point during interviews but that is about it.
