“CAT 2026: BA Student with Backlog – How to Fill Graduation Details?”
Asked by Akash Naik on 2026-09-11 in Profile Review
Hi everyone, I need some clarification regarding the CAT 2026 application form.
I am pursuing BA Economics and took admission in 2023. My degree is a 3-year/6-semester non-NEP course.
However, I have a backlog in my 2nd semester. Because of this, I will appear for my backlog examination in April 2027, and I expect the result around May 2027.
I am confused about how I should fill my Bachelor's Degree details in the CAT 2026 form:
- Should I select “Yes” for Final Year of Bachelor’s Degree? - Should I select “No” for Bachelor’s Degree Completed? - Since my actual degree duration is 3 years, should I select 3 Years, even though my degree will be completed in 2027 because of the backlog? - What should I mention as my current semester/year? - For probable completion, should I mention April 2027 or May 2027? - How should I enter my graduation marks/percentage, since one semester is still pending?
I want to fill the form correctly and avoid any issue later during IIM admission/document verification.
If anyone has faced a similar situation or knows the correct CAT procedure, please guide me.
