Asked by Akshat on 2026-05-13 in Profile Review

So I am a GNEM didi. 10th-96.5 12th-98.2 and currently my gpa is 8.5/10( Bcom Finance and Investments)...don't plan on doing work ex and I am gonna do cfa after cat exam
I have done one internship, volunteered in 2 ngos, was a part of 2 socities in my college as a Head, 15+ debating and MUN competitions and have won a couple of business fests
I have studied french for 7 years and have taken tutions and summer camp for it aswell
I still feel my profile isn't decent to get shortlisted as I dont have any national/international level certificates in fests etc
I am yet to do cfa level 1 and I have just 1-2 certification courses and I feel I dshould do more but exam is approaching and I don't wanna flunk this attempt

Please help everyone and shweta didi

My personal Advice/Opinion
1) Increase the GPA to a bit more that is around 8.8+, that way you will surely land in the 80%+ bracket of profile shortlisting used by IIMs- gives you an extra point.
2) Document all your ECA and POR yourself as a kind of master CV to construct and deliver a coherent story of leadership and willingness to push limits during the interview.
3) Profile is moderate according to Shweta Didi's profile building framework of the website I think, main caveat from your question is that you need to be confident about whatever you have as ultimately you need to be a salesman and sell your profile to the panel.
4) From what I know, the panel is more interested in knowing your thought-process, story and motivation for you in doing the certifications rather than the repute of certification, except unless the certification is highly selective and unique.

The way forward is that get a good CAT score, maintain GPA and be confident about your journey so far, there is a high probability of shortlist provided CAT is good enough in my opinion at least. Best of Luck
