Hi, I would like to begin by thanking you for taking the time to create this website. It is ad-free, to the point, and very helpful for all CAT aspirants.
I have the following acads: X - 91% XII - 77% B.Com - 78% (2018-2021) I am General, Male, Non-Engineer I got my degree results in December 2021. Joined for CA in 2022 Did my articleship from 2022-2025 (3 years, got the completion form) Was unsuccessful in CA Inter (Wrote 5 attempts) - last one being in January 2026 Have started my cat prep from Mid March 2026 I genuinely want to study MBA from an IIM However, I am scared as I am above the median age of students doing MBA( I turned 26 in Jan ) and I have no work experience I somehow managed to convince my family to let me write this year's CAT and take admission for 2027-29 batch Any tips and guidance would be appreciated.....
Coming to my query, 1. What percentile is needed for IIMs? 2. I may be eligible for EWS. Will it make an honest difference in the percentile needed? If I can get the ews certificate, through the right means as per the Central govt. Requirements, will I be asked about them in the Interview? Currently, the financial situation is not that great, earlier, it was much better...... so I am scared if I will be grilled on this topic in Personal Interview.......

EWS is helpful if it is genuine

Aim for 98+ bare minimum if you use EWS and 99.2+ otherwise. May get at a lower percentile otherwise also but aim higher.
You won't be grilled for EWS certificate. Just prepare well on how to answer why it took these many attempts. That too isn't anything negative, they'll just try to understand what you learned and if you are sure of the path ahead.
