Profile Evaluation & Mentorship Request for CAT 2026 – IIM Bangalore

Asked by Chanakya Jha on 2026-07-01 in Profile Review

I’ve been giving my career some serious thought lately, and I’ve decided to aim for an MBA. My absolute target is IIM Bangalore, and my main driver is credibility. Even though I've been delivering solid technical results at our family business, I'm noticing that my inputs on strategic business decisions aren't fully taken into consideration yet. I really need that formal IIM tag and the hands-on exposure to how large corporations handle business administration so my voice carries weight and my decisions are genuinely heard and respected at the table.

I'm planning to start prepping for the CAT, which is just five months away. Here is a quick snapshot of my profile: I have a 9.0 CGPA in 10th, 83.4% in 12th, and a 7.6 CGPA in my CS B.Tech. Professionally, I'm completing 24 months of full-time work at our textile ERP firm . Over the last two years, I've been leading our cloud web dev team. I spearheaded the migration of our legacy VB6 software to .NET Core—working solo for the first year and a half to build and transform core modules for weaving, yarn, production, and dispatch, before finally scaling up the team.

Given my background as a General Engineer Male, I wanted to ask for your honest take. Do you think it’s realistically possible to bridge my academic gaps and pull off a score high enough for IIM-B within this five-month window starting from scratch?

Honestly, I know I have a strong long-term advantage either way. If I make it into IIM, the experience and network will help me scale our company into a unicorn in the next 5 to 7 years. Even if I get rejected, I'm still going to build it into a unicorn—it might just take me 10 to 15 years instead. I'd obviously prefer to fast-track it, so I’d really value your perspective on my chances. Let me know what you think
