How it works: Candidates who meet every one of these CAT 2025 minimums form IIM Amritsar's first shortlist; interview calls then go in rank order on a pre-interview score, so the call takes more than these minimums. CAT sections: A positive raw score in each of VARC, DILR and QA. Final-year students: May apply; marks up to a year before the final examinations are used, and the degree must be complete by 30 June 2026 with the minimum marks CAT 2025 requires. A floor to be considered — not the score that got admitted.

IIM Amritsar's own process for 2026–28: candidates in the first shortlist (the CAT 2025 minimums above) get a pre-interview score out of 100 — CAT 2025 50, work experience 15, Class X and Class XII 10 each (each mark divided by the 90th-percentile score of that board), gender diversity 10 and graduation 5 (banded: nothing at 55% or below, full marks above 90%). Interview calls go in rank order on this score, with enough candidates from each category to meet the reservation requirements. The final rank is 0.7 × the pre-interview score plus 0.3 × a post-interview score made of the interview 70, work experience 10, gender diversity 10 and academic diversity 10. The bar shows what that works out to over 100 (our arithmetic from IIM Amritsar's two formulas). The same process and weights apply to every category; offers go by final rank within each category.
IIM Amritsar was set up under the Ministry of Education in 2015, and its first MBA batch began that August. It runs a two-year, full-time residential MBA and two other two-year MBAs, in Business Analytics and in Human Resources, with classes held at its campus in Manawala, Amritsar, Punjab.
The MBA’s total fee is ₹19.5 lakh (derived), and the MBA in Business Analytics (MBA-BA) and MBA in Human Resources (MBA-HR) charge the same.
General-category applicants need at least 90 percentile overall in CAT and 80, 75 and 80 in VARC, DILR and QA to be considered. These are floors; admitted candidates usually score higher.
IIM Amritsar accepts CAT.
