How it works: Candidates who chose IIM Visakhapatnam in their CAT 2025 registration and meet these CAT minimums form the first shortlist and are invited to apply; the interview shortlist is then drawn on a composite score, so the call takes much more than these minimums. CAT sections: A positive raw score in each of VARC, DILR and QA. Professional qualification: A completed CA, CS, ICWA (CMA) or FIAI qualification can stand in for the bachelor's degree, with the same minimum marks. Final-year students: May apply; the graduation score to date is used in place of the final score. A floor to be considered — not the score that got admitted.

The interview shortlist for 2026–28 is drawn, category by category, on a pre-interview score out of 100 among first-shortlist candidates who applied: CAT 2025 50 (VARC 18, DILR 14, QA 18), Class X and Class XII 10 each (each mark scaled against the board's 90th percentile), graduation 10 (adjusted within the stream), gender diversity 10 for women and transgender candidates, and work experience 10 — full marks for 24 to 36 months, none under 12 — or a CA, CS, ICWA or FIAI score if that is higher. IIM Visakhapatnam's own final score for 2026–28, out of 100; offers go by rank within each category. Candidates shortlisted for interview by IIM Bangalore, Kozhikode, Lucknow or Indore (for their PGP or PGPM) do not interview at IIM Visakhapatnam: the average of those interview scores is used instead, and they must attend at least one of those interviews.

IIM Visakhapatnam began in 2015 and is an Institution of National Importance under the IIM Act, 2017. Its flagship is the Post Graduate Program in Management (PGP), a two-year, full-time, residential programme that awards an MBA, taught at the institute's permanent campus in Gambheeram village, Anandapuram Mandal, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
